As an Engineering Geologist you will have the opportunity to:

  • Oversee all aspects of investigation and cleanup related to assigned  hazardous waste/substance sites
  • Investigate the sequence, structure, and relationships of geological materials as they affect the fate and transport of environmental pollutants
  • Review and prepare written comments and recommendations on submitted reports
  • Evaluate or conduct investigations for the purpose of selecting and designing measures to remediate contaminated soil, water, or air
  • Evaluate hydrologic, geologic, and geochemical data to characterize the occurrence and migration of contaminants and review cross-sections, maps, charts, and graphs illustrating such relationships for accuracy and interpretation
  • Conduct or review contaminant transport modeling and evaluate surface water flow, drainage, and contaminant migration in surface waters

Desirable Qualifications We Look For:

  • Experience with soil gas and vapor intrusion issues
  • Understanding of flow, movement and quality of groundwater and its interactions with geologic formations
  • Fundamental principles of hydrogeology
  • Ability to conduct and provide oversight on geologic and hydrogeologic investigations
  • Ability to make, record, and evaluate observations on geological engineering problems
  • Project management skills including problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • A Certified Hydrogeologist is desired

Working Conditions

Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for hours in the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) per month. For more details, please click here .

Special Requirements

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required for the hiring manager’s review. Applications submitted without an SOQ may be disqualified.
